To enhance the A6's driving dynamics, Audi has revised its suspension tuning, adding larger diameter shocks and improving spring response, while the optional S-Line sports package lower the body by 30mm. An air suspension is also optional, but only in Europe. The biggest addition to the A6 line, however, is under the hood, where Audi has added a version of its latest engine, the 3.0L TFSI supercharged V-6 found in the new S4. In all a total of nine powerplants -- five gasoline, four diesel -- are available for the 2009 A6:

2.0L TDI diesel four-cylinder making 136-hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, averaging 44 mpg and 0-62 mph in 10.3-sec
2.0L TDI diesel four-cylinder making 170-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, averaging 41 mpg and 0-62 mph in 8.9-sec
2.7L TDI diesel V-6 making 190-hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, averaging 38 mpg and 0-62 in 7.9-sec
