 While not a complete overhaul, the new 2009 Audi A6 features a host of upgrades to help Ingolstadt's midsize sedan stay competitive. Outside the A6's changes include R8-inspired headlights with LED daytime running lights, a new front end sporting more prominent lower air intakes, and two-piece LED taillights with special nighttime optics. All-new alloy wheels are available in 16-in., 17-in., 18-in., and 19-in. sizes, with eight different styles to choose from. Interior upgrades include added chrome and aluminum accents, higher-resolution graphics for the instrument cluster, and four new trim materials -- aluminum trigon, walnut, birch, and natural ash. In addition new colors are available for the seats, dashboard, and roof liner, and the level of cabin noise has been cut in half. A new version of Audi's MMI infotainment system offers improved functionality as well.

To enhance the A6's driving dynamics, Audi has revised its suspension tuning, adding larger diameter shocks and improving spring response, while the optional S-Line sports package lower the body by 30mm. An air suspension is also optional, but only in Europe. The biggest addition to the A6 line, however, is under the hood, where Audi has added a version of its latest engine, the 3.0L TFSI supercharged V-6 found in the new S4. In all a total of nine powerplants -- five gasoline, four diesel -- are available for the 2009 A6:
