2009 ford ka

Ford's Ka city car has become a European institution since its introduction in 1996, selling over 1.4 million vehicles overall. Now after 12 years Ford is finally replacing its B-car icon with a new version, which is marking its debut in Paris. Once again available only as a three-door hatch, the new Ka sports Ford's "kinetic design" styling and resembles the larger Fiesta, with a similar trapezoidal grille, distinctive headlights, and character lines running the length of the body. But despite its more substantial appearance the car retains similar dimensions to the outgoing Ka, which measures 142.5-in. long, 64.5-in. wide, and 55.6-in. high, respectively. Available in four trims -- Studio, Style, Style+, and Zetec -- the car is aimed at young people with "adventurous tastes," and its cabin is styled accordingly, boasting the same kinetic look of the exterior along with bright body-color inserts on the seats.
Sharing components and an assembly line with the popular Fiat 500, at launch the 2009 Ka will include a 1.2L four-cylinder gas engine making 68-hp, along with a 1.3L Duratorq TDCi turbo-diesel putting out 74-hp and approximately 56 mpg. And while neither of these is exactly a high-speed powerplant, Ford says its engineers have worked hard to give the Ka sporty driving characteristics, even going so far as to test its chassis on the Nurburgring. In addition the car inherits some upscale options from the larger Fiesta, such as its tires.
Separating itself from other city car competitors, the 2009 Ford Ka also includes several high-end options such as Bluetooth hands-free calling, a USB port for an MP3 player, and heated seats. Expect it to go on sale across Europe by late 2008 or early 2009
